Handmade bread

Today we'll go back in the past, when our grannies used to prepare handmade bread. If you have some free time and if you would like to see what kneading the bread dough and eating it tasty and crunchy means, follow this simple recipe and you won't be disappointed. :) It will be a satisfaction to eat something entirely handmade! ;)

-Preparation time: 3 hours

-Ingredients: (for 500 gr of bread)

500 gr of “0” or “00” type flour
500 ml of water
1 small bag ( 7 gr) of brewer’s yeast in powder
1 small spoon full of salt

-Preparation:

Mix flour, salt and brewer’s yeast. Sieve it and put everything on a floured pastry board ( of it you are more comfortable, in a big bowl).
Make a hole in the middle of the flour heap and pour, slowly, the water into it.

Knead the bread dough for about 15 minutes, till you get an homogeneous and elastic dough. (In this last step it can be useful to put some flour onto the dough, as you are kneading it, so that it won’t stick to the pastry board.)

Put the dough into a bowl, covered with a cloth, in room temperature and let it rest 2 hours, until its volume would be twice as a now.

Then, divide the bread dough into 4 or more parts, depending on the number of rolls you want to prepare.

On a floured pastry board roll out each piece of the dough with a rolling-pin, then amalgamate it giving it the form you like.

Put the rolls on a floured kitchen foil.

Bake in oven for 30 minutes, 230°C.

Buon appetito!
